Mark Jungers & The Whistling Mules

Silos & Smokestacks

Of the artist I've heard in recent times, this one is worth earmarking!  They say T is for Texas, and on these musical notes, please pour me a cup.  This music fits well into the Texas/Americana scene.  There are twelve tracks in all (with a 13th mystery track), and each one is worthy of a ride.

Track 1, "Silos and Smokestacks", speaks of how powerful nations are built and a bit on the demise.  Mark Jungers (pronounced like "Youngers") certainly writes as one whom thinks a little deeper, not just what's at the surface.  This music takes me to a good and easy day of limo driving while listening to some good music.

There is heart, humanity and humor going on in Track 3, " It Ain't Funny" (When It's You), and how the down trodden could be any of us.  Hats off to the musicians and special guests who have blended this material into a great fitting pair of musical jeans.

Track 7, "$2 Bill",  is a wonderfully good feeling/good timing piece that like he say's "let it ride and let it roll".  The loss of property and some folks who are affected is well expressed in Track 8, "The Price of Progress", talking of government's imminent domain.  "On My Knees", Track 10,  presents the twisted life of a sinner who, in one way or another, we all have various identities.  Beauty is found expressing itself through some sadness on Track 12, "The Way Home".

Lucky 13, the mystery track that is not even listed, is one for me to know and you to find out.  Earmark this one as well worth hearing, and thanks to Mark and his band for honoring me with this review!!
